This event is fun for all ages and will include games, food, and interactive displays. Also don’t be too afraid to take a walk through our Haunted Maze of Fear! The carnival is free admission and will be open 2pm to 6pm.

Kites Over Silver Lake: Join the fun at the Third Annual Kites Over Silver Lake Festival, Saturday, June 20th, 12 Noon to 5:00 pm. The free event will feature Face painting, story telling, kites for children both to paint and to fly and a Children’s Art Exhibit. All this will take place at Bellevue Park, 826 Lucile. Note that there’s a parking lot off Marathon, but parking is limited. Walk or carpool if you can.

Independent Shakespeare Company: On Friday, June 26th, the Company kicks off its 2009 season. Come see The Tempest at 7:30 pm in Barnsdall Park, 4800 Hollywood Blvd. (at the top of Olive Hill, between Vermont and Edgemont). Admission is free but donations are greatfully received. Join the Silver Lake Chamber of Commerce Green Committee as we create the Earth Day Ball. On Wednesday, April 22, from 10am – 4pm, as part of our ongoing campaign to make Silver Lake a Bring Your Own Bag neighborhood, we will join together plastic shopping bags collected in Silver Lake creating a giant plastic ball to demonstrate the amount of trash we create and celebrate the businesses who have pledged to eliminate plastic bags from their stores.

Inspired by the book “Theo and the Giant Plastic Ball,” this event will be an inspiring, empowering opportunity for the community to make an impact on our local environment, the City of Los Angeles and the world.
